Regressive or reactionary social movements are always working to make sure things stay the same, or even to turn them back to an earlier point in history.
Regressive social movement are wanting to reverse social change. They hold true to traditional values and do not like fast changes in society. Reactionary social movements want to restore social affairs. Both of these movements want to keep things "how they've always been" versus making progressive changes.
