Rule: the "larger" the number numerically in the minus region, the smaller the number actually is. Think money. Which would you rather be - 1000 dollars or - 100 dollars. Well you may say neither, but you have to choose. I would rather be just 100 dollars in debt which is - 100 from my point of view.
So the order from smallest to largest is
-31/6, -sqrt(26), -5, -5/6
Remember that -5/6 is 83 cents in debt.
