Rotten or pocket boroughs destroys the democratic process of electing members to the House of Commons.  People who get to vote are corrupted with bribery of a "patron". The Patron decides whom to vote.

Mainly because the people that had the chance to elect are bribed by a "patron". It doesn't follow the will of the majority but they are corrupted with money to choose those that are running for parliament.
