minus 6 both sides
-4|2x-8|=-16
divide both sides by -4
|2x-8|=4
solve
2x-8=4 and 2x-8=-4
add 8 to both sides of both equations
2x=12 and 2x=4
divide both sides by 2
x=6 and x=2

x=2 or 6
