If per one hour they produce 300 ballpoint pens in 5 hours you multiply 5*300=1500 ballpoint pens per day. Also they produce 550 gel pens in 8 hours you multiply 8*550=4400 gel pens per day.
Now for 5 weekdays multiply 5*1500=7500 ballpoint pens and 5*4400=22000 gel pens.
Finally, you add 7500+22000=29500 pens.
