The United States and the Soviet Union were the two global super powers, and they had both differences and similarities.
Similarities:
- Both had expansionist ambitions;
- Both were trying to spread out their influence in all parts of the world;
- Both were intensely developing their military and technology;
- Both formed military organization, NATO and the Warsaw Pact, in order to protect their interests;
Differences:
- USA was mostly capitalist politics, while the USSR had communist politics;
- USA was striding towards multiculturalism, while the USSR had an ongoing ethnic cleansing;
- USA was a democracy, while the USSR was an autocracy;
