Taking into account Glyndon G. van Deusen, Georgia was compelled to comply with the recently signed treaties between the US and the Indian nations. But instead, Georgia refused to recognize the Cherokees as an independent nation inside their territory and would then pressure the Indians to sell their land and move away to a smaller area.

Answer: One of the reasons was that this tribe wanted to build a new state but Georgia did not want that to happen. And they tried to press the Cherokee tribe to sell the land. But they ignored this proposition and asked for federal protection. There were two cases in which Cherokees fought against Georgia state, one in 1831 and the other case in 1832.
