Mary Shelly in her novel “Frankenstein” discusses some of the important themes prevailing during the Romantic revival. They are:
The power of art and the need for self-expression.
The pursuit of knowledge and the power of nature.
Frankenstein wanted to transform the society and bring glory to themselves through their scientific inventions. But the invention brought him to great trouble and even moved forward to murder its creator. Frankenstein finds peace when he moves towards the hills at his native place from the modern world. He feels isolated in his world where people had no time for others. Frankenstein’s pride and his step towards disturbing nature results in his downfall. he wanted to achieve the knowledge which would ease his life.
